A bit of a shock this week
By John Robson.
Anyone who has been down to the outdoor track this week, will of seen the tons of soil being tipped on the field and car park, at the fare end of the track.
This has come as a total surprise to me, I knew that the council had plans to convert the field around the track into five a side football pitches, also building 2 New Bowling Greens, but I thought the car park we use at the end ( outside the wire fencing) would remain, apparently not, having seen all this soil I went to see the Developers, to find out 1st hand what was happening, he showed me the drawing, from the drawing it shows all the area from the car park next to the cricket pavilion, is going to be converted back into a grassed field and is part of the football pitches, at the end of the fence, their will be a set of gates, all this is happening as I type, so access will as I see it, will be very shortly only by the gate which is open when the bike training is open.
I am trying to contact Anton ( Bike Trainer), to see if we can have a key, which will be on the key fob, which members sign out when they want to get on to the track.
Another problem which this has caused is overnight camping, their is no grass just mounds of dirt, so no camping, caravans, not sure yet, first I will have to get the bar removed from the entrance to get vans & caravans into the race area.
All this I will have to be sort out, before our 1st Event on the 30th April.
Keep watching this spot for further details.
